Yann Martell on writing - videos

Yann Martel talks about how a trip to India affected his writing, and how writing in some sense chose him.

Yann Martel, winner of the prestigious Man Booker Prize for the now hugely popular Life of Pi (also asuccessful film directed by Ang Lee in 2012) is a Canadian novelist and author of books including Beatrice and Virgil, and The Facts Behind the Helsinki Roccamatios .

In this short and sweet interview with WatchMojo.com, Martel talks about what it means to be a writer, the power to create your own universe and how on travelling to India, he felt that the need to be ‘unreasonable’ was key to writing a story that reflected the verticality rather than horizontal nature of life and the Western perception that art is little more than luxury
