Italy

Italy is one of the world’s favourite holiday destinations – not surprisingly, given the concentration of art, architecture, history, culture, and gastronomy. Italians will proudly tell you that they have the biggest number of UNESCO World Heritage sites of any single country  (true, and admirable, but perhaps also a call to check the Euro-centric viewpoint of UNESCO). Italy itself is a fiercely regional country, where each region, province, and down to the smallest of towns jealously guards its own identity, tradition, history and culture. If you’re planning a trip to Italy, we have a collection of Italian travel tips here, as well as Italian city guides, travelogues and much more.  If you have an Italian travel story, why not share it with TMO readers – you can send it for publication here.
