Roma come back to win 2-1 against Atalanta
Posted - 28th January 2008
Goals from Mancini and Totti saw Roma come back from an early goal scored by Atalanta, allowing the second-placed team to keep Serie-A leaders Inter Milan within their sights.
It looked like being a poor day for Luciano Spalletti's team, as they suffered an early goal from Atalanta's Adriano Ferreira Pinto. At the same time news came through that Inter-Milan had taken the lead against Siena (albeit with a dodgy penalty).
While Aquilani made a welcome retu4rn to the Roma team, after a long bout of injuries, brazilian striker Alessandro Mancini continued to thrill and infuriate Roma fans. He missed two perfect opportunities for goals to put the team ahead, and yet managed to score the decisive goal in a great display of skill.
The win was an important one for Roma to keep their scudetto hopes alive, though distant given that Inter still hold a seven point lead over them in the table.
