Pato will be ready for Champions against Arsenal

Posted - 7th February 2008

A.C. Milan, plagued with injuries, put a brave face on things yesterday, with a medical bulletin from team medic Jean Pierre Meersseman.

Both Kaká and Pato picked up injuries over the weekend - Pato, in particular, was stretchered off during Sunday evening's clash with Fiorentina (Milan won 1-0, thanks to a goal from the self-same Pato). Kaká is suffering from a recurring left-knee injury that has troubled him for the last two years.

Both Brazilians will, thus, miss this weekend's game with Siena - at a time when every game counts, as AC Milan try to make up the distance after their poor pre-Christmas showing. They're almost back up to fourth-position (important for champions league qualification next season), but face stiff competition from Fiorentina.

Meersseman assured fans that both Pato and Kaká would be ready, however, for the first leg of the champions league fixtures with Arsenal (at the end of this month).

If you're a Siena fan, though, it may be too early to start cheering. While Milan will certainly be missing Pato, Kaká, Alberto Gilardino (suspended), and Gennaro Gattuso (injured) for this weekend's match. On the other hand, though, it looks almost certain that Ronaldo and Filippo Inzaghi will both be called up, after returning to training this weekend.
