  The Irish are the only nation that will get a chance to vote directly to ratify or reject the Lisbon Treaty. In 2005, in the aftermath of its rejection, Robert Looby wrote an article for Three Monkeys on the European Constitution. • Three Degrees of Democracy: McDowell, Bush and Blair

  Democracy can not be spread - through armed interventions or otherwise - unless one can define what democracy is. Examining three 'healthy democracies', Ireland, the UK, and the United States, Anthony Behan argues that citizens urgently need to define their democracies, lest the job is done for them by the likes of Bush, Blair, or McDowell.
